Chat

The Chat module is an interactive workspace where you can talk to your agents directly. Choose a touchpoint, ask a question in natural language, and the agent answers using the data, knowledge and tools configured for it. Use this module to explore your data, test how a touchpoint behaves before you share it, and pick up where past conversations left off.

Start a chat

Open the Chat section from the top navigation bar of the Control Room. To begin:

  • Choose a touchpoint from the selector in the top‑left corner. This sets which agent you're talking to, along with the knowledge and data sources it can reach.
  • Ask a question, or click one of the suggested prompts beneath the greeting to start with a ready‑made question. The suggestions are defined per touchpoint.

The agent replies in the thread, drawing on its connected sources. While it works, it shows the tools it's using (for example, an execute sql step that queries a data source) so you can see how the answer is built.

The composer

The message box gives you a few tools for shaping a request:

ControlWhat it does
AttachAdd one or more files to your message for the agent to use.
Advanced mode ({})Expand each reply to reveal the underlying tool calls and raw JSON, such as the SQL queries and widgets behind an answer. Useful for understanding or debugging a response.
CanvasGenerate the response in a Canvas, an editable side panel, instead of inline. Best for longer documents and visualisations.
SendSend your message to the agent.

The sidebar

The panel on the left keeps your chats within reach. You can collapse or expand it with the toggle at the top.

  • New chat starts a fresh conversation with the selected touchpoint.
  • Search finds an earlier chat by its content.
  • Chat history lists your past threads, each given an automatic title. Open the options menu (three vertical dots) on a thread to Rename chat or Delete it.

Working in a conversation

Each thread shows your messages alongside the agent's replies in order. Hover over a message to reveal quick actions such as regenerate, edit and copy. Every chat you start is saved to your history and recorded in the Conversations module, where it can be reviewed, labelled and audited.

  • Touchpoints: configure the agents, knowledge and suggested prompts available in Chat.
  • Conversations: review, label and audit the chats your agents have had.
  • Knowledge: manage the information your agents draw on when they answer.
  • Governance: track usage, cost and performance across conversations.
